Shreveport, LA – April 19, 2026 – Eight children, ranging in age from one to 14, have been fatally shot in what authorities are calling a series of domestic-related shootings across Shreveport, Louisiana, early Sunday morning. The alleged perpetrator, who police state was involved in a chase with officers, is also deceased, having been shot by law enforcement.
The incident, which police chief Wayne Smith described as an "extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen," unfolded across at least three, and possibly four, separate locations. Reports indicate that the violence began around 6 a.m. local time. Some of the young victims were reportedly related to the suspect.
A CHRONICLE OF CHAOS
The unfolding tragedy appears to have stemmed from a "domestic dispute," according to initial police statements. The suspect, after initiating the violence, attempted to flee from authorities. A pursuit ensued, culminating in a confrontation where officers discharged their weapons, resulting in the suspect's death.

Details remain fluid as investigators work to piece together the precise sequence of events and the connections between the various crime scenes. Police spokesperson Christopher Bordelon noted the expansive nature of the crime scene, which included locations on West 79th Street, and areas on Harris Street and Harrison Street.
The scale of the loss, impacting children so young, has cast a somber shadow over the community. State police are actively seeking any information, including photographs and video footage, from the public to aid their ongoing investigation.
