TENDERLOIN INCIDENT SPARKS ARRESTS
Two police officers, part of Mayor Daniel Lurie's security detail, sustained injuries during a physical clash with two unidentified men in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood on Thursday evening. The incident prompted a response from additional officers and resulted in the arrest of the two suspects.
The confrontation began when the officers, on duty with the mayor, became involved in a physical altercation. Witnesses reported the situation escalated after one of the officers asked the men to move from the middle of the street. Mayor Lurie stated he had stopped his vehicle after noticing individuals obstructing the road and approached them.
NARRATIVE UNFOLDS AMIDST CITY CHALLENGES
Authorities were alerted to the disturbance shortly before 5:40 p.m. near Cedar and Larkin streets. A request for backup was made by Lurie's bodyguards as the physical confrontation unfolded.
"There was an altercation this evening involving the mayor's security detail." - Charles Lutvak, Lurie's press secretary.
Lutvak further clarified that the mayor himself was not directly involved in the physical encounter. Details regarding the specific charges the arrested men will face, as well as their identities, remained pending. The District Attorney's office has indicated its team is reviewing the case.
