Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, met with survivors and first responders from the recent Bondi Beach attack during their final day in Sydney, Australia. The engagement took place at the Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club.
The couple spoke with individuals directly impacted by the December 14th incident, which resulted in 15 fatalities and numerous injuries. Among those they met were Jessica Chapnik Khan and Elon Zizer. Khan survived the attack while shielding her child. Zizer recounted being shot multiple times as he protected his children during the incident.
The Duke and Duchess also met with volunteer lifeguards, hailed as heroes for their actions during the attack, and received customised flip-flops bearing their names. Artefacts intended for a new exhibition at the Sydney Jewish Museum, commemorating the event, were also examined by the couple. This visit marks the conclusion of their Australian tour.
