A 39-year-old massage therapist from Richlands has been charged with one count of rape following an alleged sexual assault of a client. The incident is said to have occurred on February 19 at a business in Richlands, a suburb in Brisbane's south-west.
Police have been conducting "extensive investigations" into the matter. A search warrant was executed at the business on March 5, leading to the man's arrest and subsequent charge. The therapist is slated to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on April 14.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Ball described offences of this nature as a "despicable breach of trust." Authorities are appealing for anyone with further information or who may have experienced similar interactions to come forward.
The Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch led the investigation. The specifics of the alleged assault state the man sexually assaulted a woman during the course of his duties as a massage therapist.
