Accusations of Violent Contractual Dissolution Surface
Federal prosecutors have leveled serious charges against rapper Pooh Shiesty, identified by his legal name Lontrell Williams, and eight associates. They are accused of orchestrating a kidnapping and robbery plot in Texas earlier this year, reportedly to sever ties with a recording contract. The alleged incident involved robbing three men at gunpoint and forcing them to sign documents releasing Williams from his commitments to Gucci Mane's 1017 label. The rapper, along with his co-defendants, now faces federal charges including kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Reports suggest the encounter was a planned "trap" designed to extricate Williams from his contractual obligations.

"Prosecutors now allege that the meeting was nothing more than a carefully staged trap."
Incident Details Emerge
The events, which transpired in January, reportedly involved Pooh Shiesty, his father, and fellow rapper Big30 (Rodney Wright) confronting the label owner. During this alleged meeting, contract termination papers were presented, and the label owner was purportedly coerced into signing. During the confrontation, Pooh Shiesty is accused of confiscating personal belongings, including a wedding ring, watch, earrings, and cash. The FBI executed a search and arrest warrant at Williams' Cordova, Tennessee home on April 1st, leading to his federal custody in Dallas.

Label Affiliation Under Scrutiny
While the legal proceedings unfold, Gucci Mane, the head of the 1017 label, has publicly affirmed that Pooh Shiesty remains on the label's roster. This statement comes amidst reports that the label underwent a restructuring, retaining only Pooh Shiesty and another artist, Foogiano, who is also incarcerated. The rapper's legal entanglement has cast a shadow over his anticipated "comeback" following an early release from federal prison.
Background and Previous Incarceration
Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams, has a prior history with the justice system. He was released from federal prison in October 2025 after serving over two years of a firearms conspiracy conviction. Despite his incarceration, his music reportedly continued to gain traction, and his name remained a topic of discussion within the 'new wave trap music' scene. His early release fueled anticipation for his return to the music industry, with some speculating about his ability to reclaim his former momentum or evolve his sound. The rapper's "authenticity" was noted as a key aspect of his appeal, having "lived" the experiences he portrayed in his music.
