Quintayvious Hutchins, a rookie linebacker for the New England Patriots, has been formally charged with misdemeanor assault and battery on a family or household member. The allegations stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on Tuesday, May 12.
Hutchins, who was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment on Wednesday, May 13. Court records indicate he was subsequently released on his own recognizance, with a pretrial hearing session scheduled for June 29.
The 23-year-old, originally from Alabama, was a team captain during his tenure with Boston College. He had recently signed his rookie contract with the Patriots last week, prior to the charges being filed. Hutchins reportedly left the team's rookie minicamp practice on Saturday with an undisclosed injury.

Details from court documents suggest the alleged altercation took place at a Boston College dorm. One account within the documents describes a physical interaction involving a "firm grab to the neck." The woman involved in the alleged incident reportedly did not wish to have her neck photographed and stated she was "OK." Hutchins told officers that the argument began after a disagreement about food.
The Patriots organization has stated that they take such matters "very seriously" and are currently in the process of gathering more information. Hutchins' legal representation has been noted as attorney Michael DiStefano. His college statistics include 35 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one interception across 10 games in his last season with the Eagles.
