The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally taken charge of a significant Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module investigation, securing the custody of five individuals arrested in Jammu. Among those apprehended are two Pakistani nationals, including a high-value operative identified as Abdullah, also known as Abu Hureira, who had reportedly evaded security agencies for approximately 16 years. The remaining three are local residents. The NIA produced all five before a special NIA court in Jammu, with differing remand periods assigned: the two Pakistani nationals were granted a two-day remand, while the three local individuals were remanded for 15 days.
Further details regarding the module's operational scope and potential wider network are expected to emerge as the NIA's investigation progresses. Officials have indicated that more information will be released once the probe reaches a conclusive stage. The arrests and the NIA's subsequent takeover underscore the persistent threat posed by interstate terror networks.

The operation, involving police in Jammu and Kashmir and central agencies, has already seen nearly 40 individuals detained for questioning across various states, suggesting a broader scope of infiltration and operational reach. This incident marks the second major interstate module busted by Srinagar Police, following a previous case linked to a Delhi blast, hinting at the depth and complexity of the terror infrastructure being uncovered. The NIA's involvement is anticipated to expand the investigation's focus on interstate linkages, funding channels, and potential international connections associated with the LeT.
The apprehended individuals include Abdullah, believed to have infiltrated India over a decade and a half ago, and Usman alias Khubaib, both Pakistani nationals. The three local arrests are identified as Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama, all residents of Srinagar. Authorities indicate that Abdullah may have established operational bases and support structures outside the Union Territory during his years evading capture. The module is alleged to have been involved in plotting a major attack within India.
