The pact, effective July 1st, will see the club's Benton training facility renamed 'The KNOX' and will also incorporate sleeve sponsorship on all training wear for the men's, women's, and academy teams. This arrangement marks a significant departure, particularly the naming rights for the training ground, a development many supporters had reportedly desired.
The £18 million deal is being presented as a crucial step in diversifying the club's revenue streams, operating independently of its majority shareholders, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). This separation is a point of emphasis, particularly as Newcastle, under new leadership including Chief Executive David Hopkinson, seeks to build financial muscle to compete with wealthier rivals. While continued dealings with PIF-affiliated entities are anticipated, the pursuit of non-affiliated sponsorships appears to be a core tenet of Hopkinson's commercial agenda.
