Blaze Engulfs Malviya Nagar Establishment, Leaving 21 Dead
At least 21 people perished in a devastating fire that erupted at the Flourish Stay hotel in New Delhi's Malviya Nagar neighborhood on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Among the deceased were 18 foreign nationals, reportedly from countries including Bangladesh, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Liberia. The fire broke out shortly before 9 AM local time and was eventually brought under control around midday, with eight fire tenders reportedly assisting.
The inferno ripped through the four-storey building, which housed both a restaurant on the ground floor and the hotel above. Witnesses described scenes of panic, with individuals trapped on upper floors seen leaping from windows, some reportedly landing on mattresses placed below by onlookers. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined.

A total of 47 guests were present in the hotel when the blaze began. Authorities reported that over 40 individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment following the incident.

This incident marks one of the deadliest fires in the Indian capital in recent years. It follows a similar tragedy in March, when a fire at a government-run hospital in eastern India resulted in the deaths of at least 10 critically ill patients.
