Flames Engulf Moggill Home; Investigation Underway
A significant blaze has decimated a family residence in Moggill, southwest Brisbane. Five fire crews were dispatched to the scene on Livesay Road shortly after 10:20 AM Sunday. Upon arrival, the two-storey Queenslander was already fully ablaze, exhibiting such ferocity that the structure subsequently collapsed inward. The intensity of the fire prevented firefighters from saving the home. The Queensland Fire Department has stated the cause of the conflagration remains under investigation.
Barbecue Suspected in Sherwood Blaze
Separately, and believed to be a separate incident occurring approximately 20 hours prior to the Moggill fire, a two-storey dwelling in Sherwood, also in Brisbane's southwest, was gutted by fire. Reports suggest the incident, which occurred around 1:30 PM, may have originated from a barbecue left unattended. The fire reportedly spread rapidly across both levels of the property. A neighbor, Sophia David, described the scene as neighbors rushed outside.
