Netflix has officially announced that the "2nd Stage" of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run anime will premiere in fall 2026, with episodes to be released on a weekly schedule. This clarification comes after a period of what some fans perceived as murky communication, leading to a notable degree of "uproar" and "loss of goodwill." The platform stated that this release strategy aligns with their "original plan" and reflects the "wishes of the production committee" at David Production.
The upcoming episodes will cover approximately 750 miles of the race across the desert, including the characters' encounter with the phenomenon known as the "Devil's Palm." The "2nd Stage" is described not as a single episode, but as a "block of several episodes" produced by David Production. The second episode of Steel Ball Run will serve as the first in this new block, with subsequent installments arriving weekly in a simultaneous worldwide release on Netflix.

Fans had been actively seeking clarity regarding the release schedule for some time. Reports indicate that Netflix faced persistent inquiries on social media platforms regarding the return of the series and its episode release pattern. While some had speculated about fan projections, the official confirmation from Netflix Anime's X account (formerly Twitter) appears to have brought a mix of "incomprehension and relief."
The release model, characterized by some as "unusual" and "very 'bizarre'," has been a point of contention. This strategy, reportedly established from the outset, deviates from traditional binge-release models sometimes employed by Netflix. The series, a popular entry in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, is exclusively streaming on Netflix.
