Latest Gig Ditched Over Noise, Sleep Deprivation
Morrissey has once again opted out of a scheduled performance, this time canceling his Valencia, Spain concert. The reason cited is sleep deprivation, allegedly brought on by noise pollution during the city's Las Fallas festival. Multiple statements issued via his official website described the situation, with one claiming the hotel experience was "indescribable hell."

The Valencia cancellation adds to a pattern of disrupted tours, particularly in support of his recent album, 'Make-Up Is A Lie'.

This latest absence follows a string of other concert postponements and cancellations this year and last. Previously, five out of eight planned US dates were called off due to flu. A significant number of shows, reportedly 22 last year, were also canceled, some at the last minute. The artist's tendency to cancel performances is a well-documented phenomenon, with some noting a 24% cancellation rate.

A History of Interrupted Performances
The reasons offered for Morrissey's cancelled shows have varied, ranging from the aforementioned flu and the more recent sleep disturbance to other instances like norovirus. These disruptions have led to fan disappointment and a perception of unreliability, particularly for those who have purchased tickets in advance. The artist's approach to announcing these cancellations has also been noted, with conflicting messages sometimes appearing on his official platforms before a definitive confirmation of the show being off.

Beyond specific health or environmental complaints, Morrissey has previously withdrawn from events for ideological reasons. A notable instance involved refusing to perform at a festival in Reykjavik after his demand that no meat be served was not met.
Despite the frequent cancellations, Morrissey retains a considerable and dedicated global following, who continue to attend his concerts and purchase his music. His latest album, 'Make-Up Is A Lie', was released earlier this month. He is scheduled to perform in Zaragoza and Seville later this week.
