MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
A 67-year-old man stands accused of murder following the discovery of a woman's body in a rural area southwest of Melbourne. The body, believed to be that of a 53-year-old woman reported missing on Thursday, was located Saturday afternoon by the Missing Persons Squad near Little River Road and the Princes Freeway. Police apprehended the accused, from Patterson Lakes, on Friday as he attempted to board an international flight at Melbourne Airport. Formal identification of the remains is pending.
The suspect is expected to appear before the bail and remand court in Melbourne on Sunday. Officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit were observed processing the scene where the body was found.

Separately, in Cumming, Georgia, a 35-year-old man, Loron Spaulding, has been charged with malice murder in connection with the death of Diaja Benson, 30. Benson was reported missing on February 20, and her remains were found on March 13 near Lanier 400 Parkway. Spaulding, from Gainesville, Georgia, was arrested in New Jersey and is awaiting extradition.

In a separate incident reported in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, Shawn Sullivan faces accusations following the discovery of Jill Kloppenburg’s body under his garage. Sullivan reportedly claimed the shooting was accidental. A friend told police Sullivan had confessed to killing a woman named Jill in February of the previous year. His defense attorney argued for accidental manslaughter over premeditated homicide.
Further afield, in Vallejo, California, Douglas Irwin Shaw, 41, was charged with murder in the death of Renia Lewis, 28. Lewis’s body was discovered in a detached unit behind her home. Prosecutors allege Shaw used a knife in the killing.
