Police Apprehend Suspect in Twin Killings
Kollam city police have arrested Viju Suresh, a native of Thuckalay in Tamil Nadu, in connection with the murders of two elderly men. The killings, one near the Kollam City Police Commissioner’s office on May 25 and another in Parippally on April 19, exhibit striking similarities, leading authorities to suspect Suresh as a potential serial killer. The arrest, made in Valparai, Tamil Nadu, follows a police investigation that utilized CCTV footage to track the suspect's movements.
The two victims were described as homeless individuals. Rajendran, the man found dead near the Commissioner's office on May 24, was sleeping on a shop veranda at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding both homicides are reported to be nearly identical, a fact that has solidified the police's suspicions.
Investigation Details Emerge
Authorities have formed a special investigation team, led by Kollam ACPs, to delve deeper into the case. The parallel nature of the crimes, referred to as the modus operandi, has prompted the expansion of the investigation into Tamil Nadu. The initial break in the case came from reviewing local CCTV footage, which captured images of the suspect. This evidence allowed law enforcement to trace his path out of Kerala. The lack of immediate eyewitnesses in both instances underscored the importance of digital surveillance in apprehending the suspect.
