A man, identified as a front passenger in a sedan, and a 15-month-old child have died following a three-vehicle crash in Kemps Creek, Sydney's west. A 25-year-old woman, also a passenger in the sedan, sustained critical injuries and is fighting for life. Emergency services were dispatched to the intersection of Mamre and Abbotts Road around 10:40 PM on Monday.
Initial reports indicate a sedan collided with a ute, immediately preceding a head-on impact between the sedan and a van. The man who died was a passenger in the sedan. The 15-month-old child and the woman were in the rear seats of the same vehicle. The child was transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries. The 25-year-old woman was also taken to hospital in a critical state.
The driver of the van, a 45-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing. The driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old man on a learner's permit, also suffered minor injuries. He has since been arrested and attended a police station.
