VILLAWOOD - A violent collision on the Hume Highway Sunday night resulted in a vehicle tearing in half, erupting in flames, and severing a power pole. The incident, occurring around 9:30 PM near Farrell Road in Villawood, led to a complete closure of the major roadway for approximately four hours. The sheer force of the impact was enough to snap a utility pole, bringing down power lines and disrupting the flow of traffic.
The driver of the mangled sedan, identified as a 24-year-old man, is reported to have walked away from the wreckage. He sustained burns and what are suspected to be fractures. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for medical evaluation. A second driver, whose vehicle was also involved in the incident, was transported to the same hospital for assessment.
