Cash Register Ruse Nets Alleged $80,000 Fraud
Keyshun Jones, a former employee at a Chick-fil-A in Grapevine, Texas, faces charges including property theft, money laundering, and evading arrest. Authorities allege Jones, after his termination roughly a month prior, repeatedly entered the restaurant and used the register to process about 800 catering-sized orders of mac and cheese, subsequently refunding these transactions to his personal credit cards.
The alleged scheme funneled over $80,000 into Jones's accounts before police apprehended him on April 17, 2026, following multiple unsuccessful attempts. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Jones, unattended, behind the counter operating the register. An arrest warrant was issued on April 6.
Background of Allegations
Jones was initially let go from the Grapevine establishment last November, according to some reports. The precise reasons for his initial firing remain unspecified. Detectives reviewing security footage identified him as the suspect. The Texas Attorney General's Fugitive Task Force and the Fort Worth Police Department assisted in his apprehension.
