ACTRESS SAYS SHE STILL FEELS UNSAFE, TARGETED
Evan Rachel Wood continues to report ongoing harassment and intimidation, years after publicly accusing her former fiancé, musician Marilyn Manson, of abuse. Wood, 38, stated in recent interviews that she still experiences incidents like being followed by cars and persistent phone calls, asserting that the pressure and surveillance have not ceased.
The actress equates the dynamics of her four-and-a-half-year relationship with Manson (born Brian Warner) to that of a cult, citing tactics and manipulative control. She describes feeling powerless during the relationship, internalizing a sense of deserving the mistreatment due to the psychological pressure exerted by Manson. Therapy, she explained, helped her to understand that his alleged behavior led her to repress memories of the abuse.
ACCUSATIONS AND AFTERMATH
Wood's allegations, first made public in February 2021, detail years of alleged sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse, which she states began when she was a teenager. Manson has consistently denied these claims, labeling them as "horrible distortions of reality" and asserting that his relationships were "entirely consensual."

Beyond Wood's own testimony, four other women – model Sarah McNeilly, former model Ashley Lindsay Morgan, Manson's former personal assistant Ashley Walters, and actress Esmé Bianco – came forward with similar allegations of abuse against him around the same time Wood went public.
Wood has spoken about the difficulties in leaving the relationship, describing it as feeling like a "death sentence" with the constant fear of retaliation. Her experience has been further complicated by what she describes as a smear campaign and public scrutiny, even from some of Manson's fans, prior to her public statements.
BACKGROUND CONTEXT
The allegations against Marilyn Manson surfaced prominently in early 2021, leading to legal battles and public discussion about the nature of power dynamics in relationships and the entertainment industry. Wood's decision to speak out has been a focal point in documentaries and interviews, where she has detailed incidents including alleged physical assaults and psychological manipulation. Her journey has also involved advocating for other survivors of domestic abuse. Manson has previously attempted, and failed, to pursue defamation claims against Wood.
