Corporate Restructuring Signals New Approach to Dormant Franchises
Embracer Group is enacting a significant corporate shake-up, bifurcating into two distinct public entities by 2027. A portion of its vast studio network, including Eidos Montreal (home to Deus Ex) and Warhorse Studios (known for Kingdom Come: Deliverance), will be consolidated under a new venture named Fellowship Entertainment. This move suggests a more deliberate exploration of intellectual properties that have lain fallow for years.
The company explicitly states it will be "more actively" investigating external partnerships for a slate of well-known IPs. This includes franchises such as Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, and TimeSplitters. Officials note that beyond expanding their major transmedia IPs like "The Lord of the Rings/Middle-earth" and "Tomb Raider," there's seen potential for both internal capital investment and new collaborations on other substantial AAA titles.

Fellowship Entertainment: A New Hub for IP Exploitation
Fellowship Entertainment is slated to include an IP licensing department. Its mandate appears to be identifying and cultivating external collaborators for certain franchises. This unit will work alongside operations from Dark Horse, which has a history of co-producing film and television projects in Hollywood. Embracer Group's stated intention is to "breathe new life into some of the company’s dormant video game franchises."
Lingering Questions Amidst the Announcements
While Embracer Group highlights the potential for these older series, the practical outcomes remain speculative. Fan enthusiasm for a revival of Deus Ex, for instance, was previously buoyed by Embracer's acquisition of Eidos Montreal from Square Enix, though reports of a new game being worked on for two years have yet to yield concrete results.
Deus Ex Remastered is mentioned as being "on the horizon," though its original February 2026 release window has passed, and a new date is unconfirmed. This situation mirrors the general uncertainty surrounding the potential resurgence of many of Embracer's older intellectual properties.

A History of Stasis and Speculation
Many of these franchises have not seen new installments in over a decade. Reports from December 2025 indicated a Legacy of Kain reboot was cancelled for a second time, coinciding with layoffs at Eidos-Montreal, which shifted towards a support studio role. The Saints Row franchise, meanwhile, received a mixed reception for its most recent iteration.
Embracer Group's reputation has also been marked by studio acquisitions followed by workforce reductions. This current restructuring and stated openness to outsourcing properties, particularly naming Saints Row, comes alongside discussions of layoffs and the company's broader public image within the gaming sphere.
