Charles Spencer, the ninth Earl Spencer and brother to the late Princess Diana, has married archaeologist Cat Jarman in a private ceremony in Arizona. This marks Spencer's fourth marriage, with his recent divorce from Karen Spencer finalized in December 2025, approximately five months prior to this wedding.
The ceremony, which took place on May 15, was described as intimate and was held away from traditional English estates. Spencer, 61, and Jarman, 43, have been publicly linked since 2024. Jarman is a Norwegian archaeologist specializing in the Viking Age, and co-hosts a podcast. She was previously married to Tom Jarman, with whom she has two sons.
Spencer has seven children from his previous three marriages: Lady Kitty, twins Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia, Viscount Louis, and a daughter with his most recent ex-wife, Charlotte Diana Spencer, reportedly aged 13 and present at family celebrations. Jarman also has two sons from her prior union.

The union follows a period of contention, with reports indicating a past legal dispute between Jarman and Karen Spencer concerning the disclosure of Jarman's multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Spencer has commented on Jarman's understanding of him, stating, "She knows exactly who I am—and who I am not. She’s very canny, very emotionally mature." He also noted, "I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not." Jarman’s wedding attire was noted as veering from traditional bridal norms, while Spencer opted for a classic suit without a tie.
