Kozhikode, Kerala - Vineesh Vinod, the 26-year-old man accused in the sensational Drishya murder case, has been apprehended in Mumbai and is being brought back to Kozhikode. The arrest concludes a three-month-long search that spanned thousands of kilometers across multiple Indian cities, involving the examination of approximately 400 CCTV visuals.
Authorities tracked Vinod after he recently attempted to contact an acquaintance. This contact, coupled with confidential information about his presence in Maharashtra, led police to conduct searches in areas including Nashik, Nagpur, and Kalyan. The Maharashtra police provided assistance in locating the fugitive.
Vinod had initially escaped from a mental health facility in Kerala in December. Police have formed a special team to investigate the circumstances surrounding his escape, noting that he had previously been held in a high-security prison block, suggesting a deliberate plan for his departure from the institution.
