Company Acquires Rights for Approximately $4.6 Million Amidst Developer Turmoil
Digital Bros, the parent company of publisher 505 Games, has officially acquired the intellectual property rights for the action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. The transaction, valued at roughly €4 million (approximately $4.6 million USD, or RMB 32 million), was confirmed through a press release. This move grants Digital Bros full ownership of the IP, eliminating future royalty obligations and ostensibly allowing for more direct control over the franchise's trajectory. The acquisition comes at a time when the original development team at Leenzee Games (also known as Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd.) was reportedly dissolved following internal disagreements about the studio's direction, with the game's director having departed the company.
Game's Commercial Performance and Player Reception
Despite the internal struggles at Leenzee Games, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers demonstrated considerable commercial success. The game reportedly reached the top position on Steam's Global Top Sellers chart prior to its release in July 2025. On launch day, it attracted over 130,000 concurrent players on Steam. As of March 31, 2026, the title had sold over 1 million copies, generating more than $35.1 million in revenue. Reviews for the game have been largely positive, with IGN awarding it an 8/10 and Steam users maintaining a "Very Positive" rating.

Strategic Implications for Digital Bros
The acquisition aligns with Digital Bros' stated strategy to increase its portfolio of fully-owned intellectual properties. The company believes that securing the IP will "enhance the Group's ability to make timely decisions regarding its future development and related investments," thereby supporting margin expansion and long-term value creation. This allows Digital Bros to fully capitalize on any future success generated by the franchise, without the need to share profits with the original developer.
Background: The Unraveling of the Original Development
The circumstances surrounding the sale point to significant internal strife within Leenzee Games. Reports suggest a fundamental disagreement between the game's director and the studio's leadership. While the director and core team apparently desired to pursue a sequel, management sought to pivot the company towards a role as a support studio. This divergence in vision led to the director's dismissal and the subsequent dispersal of the development team into different roles within Leenzee. The dissolution of this team had previously cast doubt on the possibility of any new Wuchang titles. The acquisition by Digital Bros now potentially reignites hopes for sequels or further expansions, with the European entity holding the reins for creative and financial decisions.
