Alphanso Talley, 26, faces murder and attempted murder charges following a weekend shooting that left a Chicago police officer dead and another in critical condition. The incident unfolded at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital on Saturday, where Talley, a robbery suspect, allegedly obtained a weapon while under police guard and opened fire on officers.
The charges filed against Talley encompass the hospital shooting as well as earlier offenses related to an armed robbery. He was taken to the hospital for treatment following his arrest on Saturday. Investigators have reportedly recovered three firearms in connection with the case. The state's attorney's office confirmed Talley's first court appearance was scheduled for Monday.
Officer John Bartholomew, 38, a 10-year veteran assigned to the Albany Park (17th) District, was killed in the attack. The second officer, whose identity has not been released, remains in critical condition.

Court records indicate Talley was on pretrial release with electronic monitoring at the time of the incident. He also had active arrest warrants and a history of prior offenses, including armed robbery and battery on a police officer. A warrant for his arrest was reportedly issued on March 11 related to a previous armed robbery case. Authorities have not yet detailed how Talley acquired the firearm at the hospital. After the shooting, Talley was reportedly seen fleeing the hospital naked. A manhunt ensued before he was apprehended.
