Violence erupts on Coldharbour Lane
FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a shooting incident in Brixton, south London. The attack, described by police as a 'drive-by shooting', occurred in the early hours of Saturday, around 01:15 BST.
A 25-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition. Three others, aged 21, 47, and 70, received injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Metropolitan Police officers, including specialist crime units, arrived at the scene on Coldharbour Lane within minutes of receiving reports of multiple shots fired from a moving vehicle. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and a trauma team, were also dispatched.
Incident Details
Police have been seen collecting CCTV footage from a local supermarket. Residents of the nearby Southwyck House estate reported hearing gunshots and seeking shelter inside the Payless Food & Wine shop.
Some residents also noted the presence of discarded nitrous oxide canisters on the estate grounds the following morning. The affected section of Coldharbour Lane was closed for police forensic teams to conduct their investigations.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or footage related to the incident to contact them on 101, quoting CAD 557/2May. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Background
The incident is being treated as an act of 'indiscriminate violence' by the Met Police. Reports from residents suggest the shooting may have occurred during a barbecue party on a patch of green space near the Southwyck House estate. The investigation is ongoing, with a hunt for the suspect(s) underway.
