Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter, the last remaining British singles players at the Miami Open, have been eliminated, extinguishing any lingering national aspirations in the tournament. Norrie, ranked world number 23, succumbed to American Alex Michelsen in a hard-fought three-set contest. Boulter, the world number 67, also exited after falling to Karolina Muchova.

The defeats mark the end of British involvement in the singles draws, with no player reaching the fourth round of the event.

Norrie's match against Michelsen, held on Saturday, saw the British number one lose a tight first set, before battling back from a 3-0 deficit in the second to force a tie-break he eventually won. However, Michelsen secured a crucial break in the third game of the deciding set and held on for a 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-4 victory.

Boulter’s departure came after Muchova broke her serve multiple times. The Czech player secured a 6-3, 7-5 win, ending Boulter's run in the third round.

Adding to the British contingent's woes, Fran Jones, ranked outside the top 100, retired from her second-round match against Jessica Pegula due to illness, trailing 6-1, 3-0.
The exit of these players comes after other notable British contenders, including Jack Draper, had already been eliminated. The tournament had already seen withdrawals from prominent British women Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal due to illness and injury respectively, further diminishing pre-tournament hopes.
