Brandon Clarke, forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, has died. The team, his agency Priority Sports, and the NBA confirmed his passing on Tuesday. He was 29 years old. Details surrounding the time, location, and cause of death have not been publicly disclosed by the Grizzlies or Clarke's agency.
Clarke spent all seven of his NBA seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, appearing in 309 games. He averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds over his career. Injuries significantly limited his playing time in recent seasons, with only two appearances this past season. He was a first-round draft pick in 2019 and was named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team in 2020.
Reports indicate Clarke was found dead on Monday in a home in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. Sources close to the investigation suggested a "possible drug overdose," with narcotics reportedly found at the scene and no immediate evidence of foul play.

This discovery follows a recent arrest in Arkansas on April 1st. Clarke was facing felony charges including speeding and possession of a controlled substance, identified as kratom. He was reportedly released on bond a day after his arrest.
Clarke, born in Vancouver, held dual Canadian and American citizenship. His tenure with the Grizzlies was marked by his passion and grit on the court, and he was remembered by teammates and the organization as a "warm, kind spirit" and a "gentlest soul" who built genuine friendships beyond the game. His foundation was also active in the Memphis community, focusing on supporting families, mothers, and children with an emphasis on literacy.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, along with the NBPA Executive Director and President, offered condolences to Clarke's family, friends, and the Grizzlies organization.
