Max Fried, a left-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees, has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a bone bruise in his left elbow. The injury forced him out of his most recent start on May 13th after just three innings.
The pitcher stated that his previously reconstructed UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) is not affected by this new ailment.
Fried reported feeling discomfort, possibly in his triceps area, after hyperextending his elbow. Further imaging is scheduled in a few weeks, or once he is no longer experiencing pain, to gauge his recovery and determine when he can resume throwing. While officially on the 15-day list, it's suggested he could be out for longer than a month.
His performance this season has been statistically strong, with a 4-1 record and a 2.09 ERA through his first seven starts. He also leads baseball with 61.2 innings pitched. However, his most recent outings showed a dip; in his last start against the Baltimore Orioles, he allowed three runs on five hits with only two strikeouts, a season low. Over his past three starts, he has conceded 11 runs and failed to complete six innings.

This setback comes as the Yankees rotation sees the return of Carlos Rodón, who recently rejoined after his own elbow surgery last October. The team's pitching depth also includes Cam Schlittler, Will Warren, and Ryan Weathers. Fried himself is 32 years old.
