CINCINNATI, OH - The Kroger Queen City Championship, now underway at Maketewah Country Club, presents a familiar tableau for those tracking collegiate golf's imprint on the professional circuit. Two former teammates from Xavier University are set to compete, marking a significant moment for both the athletes and their alma mater's home course.
Emma McMyler, a recent Xavier standout now navigating her rookie season on the LPGA Tour, will play alongside current Musketeer Madison Reemsnyder. Maketewah, a course intrinsically linked with Xavier's athletic programs, serves as the home ground for Reemsnyder and the university's golf teams. The inclusion of Reemsnyder in the tournament field was a sponsor's exemption, an opportunity she shares with established professionals like LPGA Tour member Maria Fassi and Ladies European Tour player Alexandra Swayne.
McMyler has described her return to Cincinnati during her inaugural professional year as a "special opportunity." Reemsnyder, who has been involved with golf since childhood, articulated that competing in an LPGA event on her collegiate turf was a long-held, almost unimaginable aspiration. Both athletes have voiced hopes that their participation will serve as an impetus for aspiring young female golfers in the region.

The championship, which runs from May 14-17, 2026, features a field populated by considerable talent. Notably, Lydia Ko, the defending champion, is among the approximately 30 major championship winners and six former world number ones participating. Ko has had a successful 2026 campaign thus far, securing four top-10 finishes in 13 starts and clinching a victory at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore earlier this year. Last year's tournament saw Ko begin the final round trailing by two strokes, setting the stage for her eventual win. The tournament is scheduled to continue at TPC River's Bend through at least next year, according to existing contracts.
