A 28-year-old woman was fatally struck by a USPS delivery truck on Vine Street and Baker Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. on May 13, 2026. The incident is currently under investigation, and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
The woman, identified as Brigham, was reportedly outside of a crosswalk when the collision occurred. Her husband, Freeman, stated he was inside their home charging his phone and heard a commotion before discovering her in the street. He had been on a date night with Brigham at a friend's house minutes before the incident. Freeman is now tasked with caring for their four children and arranging funeral services, scheduled for May 30.
Police Offer Limited Details on Fatal Incident
Authorities confirmed the collision involved a Postal Service vehicle and resulted in the woman's death. She was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Lt. Mathis indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that charges have not yet been filed. The location of the incident was Vine Street and Baker Avenue.

Recent Incidents Involving USPS Vehicles
The collision involving Brigham is one of several recent incidents where USPS vehicles have been involved in fatal accidents:
July 16, 2025: A woman was killed after a collision with a USPS mail truck in Kensington, Maryland, near Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road. The crash was reported around 10:40 a.m. The pedestrian was extricated and transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
December 7, 2025: Laurie Jensen died in an accident involving a USPS truck on Mannheim Road in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Additionally, a separate incident in July 2024 involved the fatal shooting of a postal worker, Octavia Redmond, on her delivery route in Chicago. This incident, however, was a shooting, not a traffic collision.
