ZEE5 has announced the digital release of "The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond," a film continuing the narrative themes of its predecessor. The movie is slated to begin streaming on the platform starting May 1st, approximately eight weeks after its theatrical debut on February 27th. This move allows the film to reach a broader audience beyond cinema halls, making it accessible from home.
Shifting Narrative, Familiar Tones
While maintaining a similar focus, "The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond" introduces a fresh cast of protagonists. The story centers on three young women—Divya, Neha, and Surekha—from various Indian states. Their lives reportedly take a turn after marrying Muslim men, leading to alleged pressure for religious conversion. The sequel expands its geographical scope, with storylines reportedly unfolding across states such as Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, moving beyond Kerala. This aims to present a more expansive view of the issues explored.

Production and Reception
The film, produced with a budget of approximately Rs 30 crore, saw a more modest box office collection of around Rs 60 crore globally during its theatrical run. This contrasts with the significant commercial success of the first installment, which reportedly grossed over Rs 304 crore worldwide on a Rs 15 crore budget. Despite facing allegations of being "communal propaganda," producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah has stated a commitment to telling these stories, framing the film as support for the victims and a continuation of advocacy.
Expanded Accessibility and Cast
The digital premiere on ZEE5 will also feature the film in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, further broadening its potential viewership. The new leads include Ulka Gupta as Surekha, Aditi Bhatia as Divya, and Aishwarya Ojha as Neha. These actors are tasked with portraying characters navigating complex personal struggles against a wider socio-cultural backdrop, with the trailer hinting at interconnected narratives. The music is also highlighted as a key element in shaping the film's emotional core.
