R.S. Praveen Kumar, a prominent figure associated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has leveled accusations against the current state government, alleging a deliberate effort to obstruct the admission of economically disadvantaged students into institutions like the Hyderabad Public School (HPS). This claim, voiced in a recent statement, centers on a perceived disinterest in extending educational facilities previously enjoyed by some SC and ST students.
The core of the accusation points to a failure by the government to sustain or expand opportunities for poor students, specifically mentioning HPS as a site of concern. Kumar further contends that the current administration is "conspiring to destroy the Gurukul education system."
The BRS leader has critically examined the financial allocations for educational infrastructure, questioning the adequacy of funds. Kumar juxtaposed the previous BRS government's investment of Rs. 10 lakh per student annually for proper facilities and inclusivity against the current budget, which he characterized as insufficient for constructing student facilities. He specifically cited an instance where facilities for 2,560 students were reportedly allocated only Rs. 25 crore.

Kumar has framed these actions as a dismantling of the robust Gurukul system established by the former K. Chandrashekhar Rao government. This system, he asserts, was designed to ensure that children from all socio-economic backgrounds had access to quality education. He challenged the current leadership, including Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, suggesting they lack a fundamental understanding of the Gurukul framework.
In response to these criticisms, Kumar has proposed an all-party meeting to engage intellectuals and education experts in a discussion about the future of integrated schools. He also voiced strong disapproval of remarks by Revanth Reddy that apparently criticized the prior government's stewardship of these educational institutions and its commitment to social justice. Kumar’s questioning of the current budget, asking if the facilities were intended as "schools or poultry farms," highlights his perception of a significant downgrade in educational standards.
