Sedrick Shaw, a name etched across the Hawkeye football record book, is officially heading into the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame. This induction, part of the 37th class, arrives for Shaw, who holds the school's all-time rushing record with 4,156 yards and is tied for the most career rushing touchdowns at 33. He will be honored on Friday, Sept. 4, just ahead of the football team's season opener against Northern Illinois.
The Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame eligibility requires athletes to have completed their eligibility at least 10 years prior to induction. This year's class, a seven-person group, also includes Kim Baker-El Abiad (women's gymnastics), Klas Bergstrom (men's tennis), Diane DeMiro Simmons (field hockey), Amy Herrig Tanny (women's basketball), Matt McDonough (men's wrestling), and Janet Moylan Ritter (volleyball).
Shaw's omission from the Hall of Fame until now has been noted, despite his significant statistical achievements that place him among the program's greats. His career marks have long been a fixture in Iowa football's historical standings.

Notable Achievements of Other Inductees:
Diane DeMiro Simmons (Field Hockey): A two-time NFHCA first-team All-American, she was instrumental in leading her teams to Big Ten titles and NCAA Final Fours, accumulating 48 career goals.
Matt McDonough (Men's Wrestling): A two-time NCAA National Champion, McDonough finished his collegiate career with an impressive 122-9 record, ranking 11th in program history for winning percentage.
Janet Moylan Ritter (Volleyball): Ritter still holds the program's record for career assists (5,471) and previously held the record for digs (1,931), making her a standout setter in NCAA history as well.
Klas Bergstrom (Men's Tennis): A three-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, Bergstrom was also recognized as the Big Ten Sportsman of the Year in 1993.
The Hall of Fame criteria stipulate that any athlete who has earned at least one varsity letter at Iowa is eligible. The formal induction ceremony is set to take place the evening before the Hawkeyes' 2026 football season kicks off.
