A nationwide recall has been issued for Savannah Bee Company's Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard due to a critical labeling oversight. Bottles bearing the "Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard" label were found to contain the "Honey BBQ Sauce-Sweet" formulation, which includes undeclared wheat and soy.

This mislabeling presents a significant risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions for individuals with sensitivities to wheat or soy. The affected product is sold in 16-fluid-ounce glass bottles and was distributed across the United States.

The company initiated the recall on Friday, February 27th, after it was discovered that the incorrect labels were affixed to the "Honey BBQ Sauce-Sweet" product. Consumers who have purchased this sauce are strongly advised not to consume it, particularly if they or anyone in their household has a wheat or soy allergy.

The discrepancy was reportedly flagged by a customer who observed that the mislabeled bottles, despite having a mustard label, contained a dark brown sauce consistent with the sweet variety, rather than the expected golden yellow mustard hue.

The recall encompasses specific lot numbers, with an example lot number provided as B1L1360525 and a best-before date of 05/16/27. The Universal Product Code (UPC) for the recalled product is 8 50033 93758 9.
This incident echoes similar labeling issues that have led to product recalls in recent months. For instance, RITZ Crackers recalled certain cracker sandwich lots in December due to a comparable labeling error.
Consumers are urged to examine their pantries for the mislabeled product. The Savannah Bee Company has instructed those who have purchased the affected sauce to dispose of it safely.
