Quarterback RJ Day, son of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, has announced his commitment to Northwestern University.
RJ Day, a three-star recruit and projected Class of 2027 quarterback, has chosen to continue his football and academic career with the Wildcats, a conference rival of his father's Ohio State Buckeyes. The decision places him under the guidance of new Northwestern offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, a figure with a long-standing relationship with the Day family, having recruited Ryan Day to play college football at New Hampshire decades ago.
Day, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound passer from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio, has held multiple offers from other programs including Purdue, Syracuse, Cincinnati, and South Florida. His junior season saw him set school records for passing yards with 2,710 and touchdowns with 25. Northwestern currently has eight quarterbacks on its spring roster, with Michigan State transfer Aidan Chiles anticipated as a senior starter.

The commitment signifies a move within the Big Ten conference, positioning RJ Day to potentially compete against his father's team in the future. This development comes as Northwestern, under its new offensive coordinator, aims to bolster its quarterback room.
