Puttaparthi Gears Up for High-Profile Visit and Defence Initiative
PUTTAPARTHI, MAY 13, 2026 — A significant security posture is being established in Puttaparthi for the May 15 visit of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The duo are slated to lay the foundation stone for a substantial ₹1 lakh crore fifth-generation fighter aircraft manufacturing project, spanning 650 acres within the Sri Sathya Sai district. The review of security arrangements, including barricading, parking, entry points, and crowd management, was conducted by Satish Kumar at the district police office. Preparations also included security for IT Minister Nara Lokesh's visit on May 14 to Battalapalli for a hospital program.
The heightened security focus on Naidu follows recent directives from Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta to implement "uncompromising implementation of security protocols" after a high-level review initiated subsequent to an event labelled 'Operation Sindhoor'. This directive, shared with Intelligence Chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha and senior officials, underscores an ongoing assessment of VIP security.
