Victoria Police are currently investigating claims of a historical sexual assault made by Australian actress Ruby Rose against pop singer Katy Perry. The alleged incident is said to have occurred in Melbourne in 2010.
Victoria Police confirmed detectives from its Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are looking into the matter.
Perry's representatives have strongly denied the allegations, describing them as "categorically false" and "dangerous, reckless lies".
Rose, who has been vocal on social media platform Threads, stated that the alleged assault took place at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne's CBD when she was in her early twenties. She has indicated that it has taken her "almost two decades" to come forward publicly with the claim. Rose has stated she has finalized her reports with the police and is now unable to comment further on the ongoing investigation.

The allegations surfaced following a social media exchange where Rose commented on Perry's reaction to Justin Bieber's performance at the Coachella music festival. Rose made a remark that Perry "didn’t give a s* what she thinks" and then detailed the alleged assault, claiming Perry "rubbed her disgusting vagina on [Rose’s] face" until she vomited.
Initially, Rose suggested she was not interested in filing a police report, but later confirmed she had done so. Police have stated that due to the ongoing investigation, they are unable to provide further comment.
Background:
The alleged incident is reported to have happened around 2010. Ruby Rose, aged 40, and Katy Perry, aged 41, were both prominent figures in entertainment at the time. Rose has previously alluded to the event, describing it as a "funny little drunk story" due to her difficulty in handling it. She also alleged that Perry later assisted her with a US visa application, which influenced her decision to remain silent about the incident for a prolonged period.

Representatives for both Perry and Rose were contacted for comment, with Perry's team issuing a firm denial of the accusations.
