Nintendo has officially announced 'Pictonico!', a new mobile application for iOS and Android devices set to launch on May 28, 2026. The game allows players to integrate their personal photographs, either by snapping new pictures or selecting from their existing library, and transform them into a series of short, fast-paced mini-games.
The core premise of 'Pictonico!' involves using a player's photos as the visual elements within distinct mini-games. These challenges are described as quick, WarioWare-style experiences where players have only seconds to complete tasks. The company states that player photos are not transmitted to Nintendo's servers.
The application will adopt a "free-to-start" model. This means that a limited selection of mini-games will be available for free upon download, with additional content likely requiring further purchases.
The game mechanics reportedly involve a variety of actions such as eating food, rolling out carpets, or peeling off facemasks, all customized with the player's chosen images. 'Pictonico!' is developed by Nintendo in conjunction with Intelligent Systems. Pre-registration for the game is currently open on both the Google Play Store and the App Store.

The announcement of 'Pictonico!' arrives at a time of notable shifts within Nintendo's mobile strategy. The game draws parallels to Nintendo's 'WarioWare' series, known for its rapid-fire collection of microgames. Interestingly, Goro Abe, a key figure associated with the 'WarioWare' franchise, departed from Nintendo earlier this year. While 'WarioWare' has seen recent entries on the Nintendo Switch, its commercial performance has not always been a strong point for the company. 'Pictonico!' represents a departure from typical gacha-based monetization often seen in mobile titles, opting instead for a microgame collection approach.
