South Western Railway is in the process of upgrading several key express trains with modern LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches. This transition, which has been ongoing, aims to bolster both passenger safety and comfort. The Mysuru-Belagavi Vishwamanava Express (Train No. 17326/17325) is slated to receive these new coaches.
The rollout of LHB coaches signifies a broader, ongoing effort by South Western Railway to phase out older Integral Coach Factory (ICF) models with a focus on enhanced safety features. This move impacts multiple train services, including the Talaguppa–Mysuru Express, which recently saw its coaches replaced.
Key Service Adjustments and Upgrades
The Mysuru-Belagavi Vishwamanava Express is a prominent service in the region, connecting major hubs. Historical data indicates its route was extended to Belagavi from Hubballi in November 2019, with specific timings detailed for its journey. This train operates under numbers 17326 (Mysuru to Belagavi) and 17325 (Belagavi to Mysuru). Recent information suggests the train has approximately 19 coaches.

The implementation of LHB coaches on the Mysuru-Belagavi Vishwamanava Express follows a pattern observed across other routes. For instance, the Talaguppa–Mysuru Express is now running with 18 LHB coaches, including AC chair car, second-class chair car, and general second-class options. Similarly, the Guwahati–SMVT Bengaluru Express was upgraded with 23 LHB coaches, catering to diverse passenger needs.
Operational Notes and Passenger Information
The Mysuru-Belagavi Express (Train No. 17301/17302) offers a different route via Hassan and is noted for its relatively short travel time between Mysuru and Belagavi, approximately 11 hours and 10 minutes over 614 km. Reports from January 2026 indicate this service uses four rakes. Passenger feedback for the Mysuru-Belagavi Express (Via Hassan) and Vishwamanava Express generally rates cleanliness, punctuality, and safety as excellent.
However, operational disruptions have occurred. In April 2025, the Vishwamanava Express (Train No. 17325) was rescheduled and regulated due to track maintenance works between Haveri and Byadgi stations. The departure time from Belagavi was shifted from 6:15 am to 7:15 am on specific dates. Reports also indicate that bedroll/linen services were not available on some Vishwamanava Express rakes as of May 2017, while on-board catering was available. Conversely, the Mysuru-Belagavi Express (via Hassan) has noted bedroll/linen availability.

The train's route covers substantial distances, with the Vishwamanava Express between Mysuru and Belagavi covering 749 km, and the Mysuru-Belagavi Express (via Hassan) covering 614 km.
