MUMBAI – The city is grappling with a grim incident following the deaths of two students and a critical condition for another after allegedly consuming drugs at a music concert held at the Nesco Exhibition Centre in Goregaon East on April 11th. Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the event, including fellow students and those involved in its organization.
The deceased, identified as a 24-year-old male and a 24-year-old female student, reportedly experienced a sudden deterioration in health during the concert. A third student from the same group, aged 25, remains in intensive care. Preliminary reports suggest that the students had consumed drugs, with police sources indicating the presence of MDMA pills. Blood samples from the deceased have been sent for forensic analysis to ascertain the exact cause of death and the substances involved.

Arrests and Investigation
Five people have been taken into custody. Among those arrested are two fellow students who allegedly provided the drugs, alongside three individuals associated with organizing the concert. Reports also mention an event organizer named Vihaan alias Akash Samal, Sunny Vinod Jain from NESCO Event Organisation and Management, and Balakrishnan Balaram, a member of the internal security team, being among those apprehended. All arrested individuals have been remanded in police custody.
The concert, which saw thousands in attendance, has now become the focal point of an investigation into alleged drug consumption at large public gatherings. Police are continuing their inquiries, and further arrests are not ruled out as the probe widens.

The incident has ignited widespread concern regarding safety protocols at public events, particularly those attracting younger demographics. This occurrence is happening amidst a broader backdrop of drug seizures, with authorities recently intercepting a significant quantity of cocaine. The police have thus far declined to disclose the identities of the deceased and the arrested.
