Anthony Stolarz, the Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender, was hospitalized after taking a puck to the throat during pre-game warmups on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The incident forced him to miss the team's scheduled start against the Ottawa Senators.

Stolarz was released from the hospital after precautionary imaging and was expected to rejoin the team for their flight back to Toronto. The puck struck Stolarz under his mask, between his neck and collarbone. The shot reportedly came from his teammate, forward William Nylander, who has since contacted Stolarz.

The Maple Leafs lost the game to the Senators by a score of 5-2. Joseph Woll served as the emergency goaltender and made 38 saves. Anthony Urban was also present as the emergency backup goalie, though his services were not required.
This season, Stolarz, 32, has a record of 8-9-3 with a .894 save percentage in 22 games. This comes after a stronger previous season where he posted a 21-8-3 record with a .926 save percentage. The goaltender has also missed significant time earlier in the season due to an upper-body injury, missing 33 games. The team currently sits second-to-last in the Eastern Conference with a 29-28-13 record. The Maple Leafs' next game is scheduled for Tuesday in Boston.
