Price Hike for the Fourth Straight Year
Manchester United is set to implement a 5% increase on most season tickets for the upcoming season, marking the fourth consecutive year of such hikes. This decision comes amidst efforts by the club's ownership, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group, to bolster revenues, a strategy that has drawn considerable criticism from the fanbase.

The club insists the price adjustments are "fair and reasonable," aiming to maintain financial strength for team investment and keep stadium seats filled.

Key Changes and Fan Discontent
The price rise extends to corporate and hospitality tickets. However, a reprieve is offered to 'executive club members' who can renew by April 15th to maintain current prices. A significant point of contention is the increased minimum attendance requirement for season ticket holders, now set at 16 out of 19 Premier League games, up from 15. This measure, alongside other policy shifts, has fueled fan anger.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) has voiced strong opposition, labelling the price increases and policy changes as "frankly offensive" and arguing that fans are being burdened by the club's financial issues and past ownership mistakes. MUST had previously advised the club against any price rises or policy changes.

"The idea that fans should pay for the Glazers ownership and errors on top of the thousands that we already pay to loyally follow the team is frankly offensive." - MUST statement.

Wider Club Context
These ticketing decisions follow recent announcements about ambitious plans for a new stadium, estimated to cost £2 billion, and other cost-cutting measures within the club, such as removing free staff lunches. Protests against rising ticket prices have occurred, notably before a recent home game against Arsenal.
While five of the ten Premier League clubs that have announced their season ticket details have frozen prices, Manchester United's decision to raise them places them in a minority. Many other Premier League clubs are yet to reveal their pricing structures for the next season.
