THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Superfast bus collided with a wall near the CSI junction in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram, early on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Patterns of Vehicular Incidents
This latest incident joins a series of vehicular disturbances involving KSRTC buses in the Thiruvananthapuram region. Previously, on August 20, 2025, a fire erupted in a KSRTC low-floor bus en route from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode, near the Attingal private bus depot. The blaze, which began near a charging socket, spread to passengers' bags. Prompt action by the crew in stopping the bus and evacuating the approximately fifty passengers is noted.

Another collision occurred on September 24, 2025, when a KSRTC bus traveling from Pathanamthitta to Thiruvananthapuram collided with a lorry in Vattappara, Thiruvananthapuram. This incident resulted in 13 individuals sustaining injuries, with some requiring transfer to the Medical College Hospital. On the same day, a school bus in Thiruvananthapuram crashed into a roadside wall near Vizhinjam, injuring three children. Reports suggest a "mechanical failure" led the driver to lose control.
Further compounding the pattern, on April 5, 2025, a KSRTC fast passenger bus from Attingal was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The bus had reportedly stopped to pick up passengers when another bus rear-ended it. This incident left two individuals seriously injured, with eyewitnesses mentioning a potential brake failure as a contributing factor. Ambulances were dispatched to transport the injured to hospitals.
