Four women from Kerala's tribal communities, associated with the 'Kudumbashree' self-help network, have completed a trip to New Delhi. The journey, which included a visit to Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan, served as an acknowledgment of their work in financial and social empowerment initiatives for tribal women.
The women, identified as Praja Narayanan from Attappadi, Reena K from Kasaragod, Shyamala Ravi from Wayanad, and Icy Mol from Idukki, were selected by the Union Rural Development Ministry. This program aims to recognize exemplary activities by women in self-help or neighbourhood groups involved in tribal development. Their selection marks a recognition of "model activities" in their respective areas.

Initial reports suggest the women expressed disbelief upon hearing about the opportunity, having previously only seen such destinations on television or in print. They departed for New Delhi on March 8. During their visit, they also met with officials from the Union Rural Development Ministry, including Joint Secretary Ms. Smriti Sharan and Deputy Secretary Ms. Monika Bhutunguru. Representatives from other states also present at the meetings were recognized for their achievements in the tribal sector.

These four women are former chairpersons of Kudumbashree Community Development Societies (CDS) and hail from Scheduled Tribe communities. The initiative, according to stated aims, is a gesture extended by the Ministry to women from self-help groups who have demonstrated excellence in tribal development efforts over the past three years.
