The Kakinada district has achieved 86.22 percent coverage in its Unified Family Survey, having collected data from 6,51,697 out of 7,55,812 households. Officials are now tasked with completing the remaining surveys by March 10, with particular focus on "lagging mandals." Concurrently, directives have been issued to organize events across all constituencies on March 8 to commemorate International Women's Day, aiming to celebrate achievements and launch new initiatives for women entrepreneurs and self-help groups.

The survey, a state-wide effort launched to update household records and ensure inclusion in welfare programs, hinges on citizen cooperation for accurate data entry. Officials emphasize that misrepresentation of facts could lead to the suspension of government benefits. The initiative seeks to streamline service delivery and ensure that eligible families are promptly identified for welfare schemes. Identity verification for the survey is reportedly handled through Aadhaar authentication.

Data Collection Lags and Digital Hurdles
District Collector Shan Mohan has expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of the survey in certain areas, pushing for accelerated completion within the established deadline. This push comes amid user feedback suggesting technical difficulties with the associated mobile application. Reports indicate issues with document uploading and instances where previously submitted data appears to be lost, necessitating re-entry from the beginning. Some users have also noted household records being incorrectly marked as "open."
Women's Day Tie-ins and Entrepreneurial Focus
International Women's Day activities on March 8 are set to coincide with the survey's push for completion. These events are planned to feature elected representatives, including MLAs, MPs, and MLCs. The stated theme for this year is “Accelerated Action-For All Women and Children: Rights, Equality and Empowerment,” underscoring a drive for more robust support systems for women. During these celebrations, successful women entrepreneurs are slated for recognition. New Self-Help Group (SHG) brands and logos are to be unveiled, and cheques for bank linkages will be distributed to SHG members. The collector highlighted that approximately one lakh women across the state have become entrepreneurs through government efforts, with around 4,000 hailing from Kakinada district.
