Justin Pippen, a guard who spent his sophomore season at California, has committed to Ohio State. This move signals a return to the Big Ten conference for Pippen, who began his college career at Michigan. The commitment was confirmed by his representatives at WME Basketball.
Pippen's statistics from his season at Cal include averages of 14.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. He started all 32 games for the Golden Bears and was their second-leading scorer. This performance marks a significant improvement from his freshman year at Michigan, where he saw limited playing time.
The addition of Pippen is expected to fill a role similar to that of Devin Royal, a departing guard for Ohio State. Pippen, a sophomore, is also the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen. His transfer ranks him as a four-star prospect and among the top transfers in the current cycle, according to industry rankings. This marks Ohio State's first transfer portal acquisition of the offseason.
