Hoshiarpur Police on Monday announced the dismantling of a narcotics and illegal arms network, apprehending four individuals and seizing over nine kilograms of heroin, alongside two foreign-made pistols and 40 cartridges. The operation, described by police as a "major breakthrough," occurred in the Hoshiarpur district.
The haul included 9.925 kilograms of heroin. Authorities also confiscated two foreign-made pistols and eight magazines, in addition to 40 live cartridges. The arrests and seizures were detailed by the Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, via a post on the social media platform X.
Preliminary investigations suggest the arrested individuals served as local operatives for foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and the distribution of illegal weaponry. An FIR has been lodged at the Garhshankar police station within Hoshiarpur. Police state that ongoing inquiries aim to trace the full scope of the network, including its origins and distribution channels.
