Niamh Blackshaw and Angus Castle-Doughty, figures familiar to viewers of the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, have announced their engagement. The news, disseminated yesterday via social media, marks a new chapter for the couple who first crossed paths on the show four years ago.
Blackshaw, 27, shared images from a photo booth session on her Instagram, conspicuously displaying an engagement ring. Castle-Doughty, 31, reportedly proposed, solidifying a relationship that began when he joined the Hollyoaks cast in 2022. The couple confirmed their romantic involvement shortly thereafter.
Despite their characters' separate narratives on screen, their off-screen connection has culminated in this public declaration. Fans of the show have reportedly responded positively to the news.
This announcement arrives some months after February 2026, when tabloid reports surfaced suggesting a potential split. These rumors were fueled by perceived social media distancing, including the apparent removal of each other's content from their respective online profiles. Castle-Doughty was also reportedly engaged in filming a historical war movie titled Young Washington in the United States during this period, with distance cited as a possible contributing factor to the speculation. Both actors subsequently pushed back against these claims of separation.
