Mumbai, April 22, 2026 – Director Vikram Bhatt has altered the title of his upcoming film, previously known as Haunted - Ghosts Of The Past, to Haunted - Echoes Of The Past. The shift comes with a peculiar assertion from Bhatt: "You can't make a ghost film without believing in superstition." The decision to rebrand, coupled with the director's commentary, suggests a deliberate move to lean into the genre's inherent mysticism, even as the film undergoes further refinement. A teaser for the film is slated for release within the current month.
Bhatt elaborated on the titling adjustment, relaying that the instruction to remove "Ghost" from the original title originated internally. This strategic recalibration, according to the director, is essential for the very fabric of a supernatural narrative.
The film, a successor to the 2011 production that is credited with initiating Bollywood's 3D trend, has seen a series of shifts. Initially slated for release on November 21, 2025, it was later postponed to January 30, 2026, following a reported need for reshoots. These reshoots, spanning 12 days and conducted on real locales, were reportedly in response to "fan need" and aimed to enhance the audience's understanding of the film's setting. Bhatt has also voiced confidence in the film's visual technology, proclaiming it will feature "the very best 3D to date" in Indian cinema.

Bhatt describes his approach to horror as "romanticized horror," a blend he posits includes songs, intrigue, a love story, and frightening elements. This contrasts with what he perceives as a trend of comedic horror, with his film promising a more substantial dose of fear and romance. The initial teaser for the film, released on a Wednesday, was presented as a fusion of horror, music, and romance.
