Rohit Shetty Picturez has flatly denied circulating stories suggesting a massive payout for actor Akshay Kumar in the upcoming comedy flick, Golmaal 5. In a terse statement issued today, the production house labeled these claims as "completely baseless, inaccurate and purely speculative."
The production house's official clarification serves to quash rumors that have been gaining traction in recent days, specifically concerning the financial terms surrounding Kumar's involvement in the highly anticipated film. The franchise is known for its ensemble cast, which includes Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Sharman Joshi, and Kunal Kemmu, in addition to Kumar.
The denial comes as fans eagerly await further updates on the next installment of Rohit Shetty's popular comedy series. These reports of Kumar's alleged exorbitant fee have been circulating widely.
Background Whispers
This latest denial follows a series of other reports concerning Golmaal 5. Earlier this year, in February 2026, director Rohit Shetty himself had to "clear the air" on rumors suggesting the film was based on the classic Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor starrer Do Aur Do Paanch. Shetty then stated such reports were "factually incorrect and false," refuting claims that the new film would be an adaptation with a modern twist.

Separately, Akshay Kumar has been in the news regarding other projects. The teaser for his film Welcome To The Jungle, also featuring a large ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty and Tusshar Kapoor, dropped earlier today. That film is slated for a June 26, 2026 release. Kumar also has another film slated for December 4, 2026, directed by Anees Bazmee, described as a "hilarious family comedy."
In a past statement from March 2026, Kumar himself had acknowledged that Ajay Devgn is the "hero" of Golmaal 5, confirming he himself was not taking the lead role. This detail also emerged in a Times of India report.
