FOUR VEHICLES DESTROYED IN GOLDERS GREEN INCIDENT
Four ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer organization Hatzola Northwest were destroyed in an apparent arson attack in the Golders Green area of north London early Monday morning. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime, with counter-terrorism units reportedly involved in the probe.

Footage appears to show three masked individuals pouring accelerant on the vehicles before setting them alight and fleeing the scene. The attack, which occurred near the Machzike Hadath synagogue, has drawn widespread condemnation. Oxygen cylinders within the ambulances reportedly exploded, causing damage to nearby properties.

Two British nationals, aged 45 and 47, were detained on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. However, they have since been released on bail under strict conditions. Police stated that while three suspects were visible in the security footage, no arrests have been made yet.

INVESTIGATIONS EXTEND TO POTENTIAL EXTERNAL LINKS
Authorities are exploring various avenues in their investigation, including the possibility of links to groups with alleged ties to Iran. Security agencies are reportedly examining whether such a group could be behind the attack, though officials have cautioned against premature conclusions. This development comes amidst a backdrop of heightened security concerns, with two Iranians having recently appeared in court accused of spying on the Jewish community in London on behalf of Tehran.

Separately, in a case last month, two men received life sentences after a plot to carry out an Islamic State-inspired gun attack on a Jewish gathering in Manchester was foiled.
COMMUNITY RESPONSE AND BROADER CONCERNS
The attack has prompted significant concern within the Jewish community and beyond. "We shall not be moved," stated one representative, emphasizing resilience in the face of such incidents. The destruction of the Hatzola Northwest ambulances, a service that responds to thousands of calls annually for both Jewish and non-Jewish residents, is seen as a particularly egregious act.

The incident occurs as Passover, a major Jewish holiday, approaches, and follows a tragic attack last year on Yom Kippur in Manchester, where two Jewish individuals were killed in an assault on a synagogue. Police have implemented a focused security plan targeting key community locations in the area.
Golders Green is known as a hub for London's Jewish community, with numerous synagogues, schools, and kosher establishments. The Chief Rabbi of the UK, Ephraim Mirvis, described the attack as "a particularly sickening assault — not only on the Jewish community, but on the values we share as a society."
